àDegree of comparisons has three model; Positive Degree, Comparative Degree, Superlative Degree

I.         Positive Degree

Formula : ............ as + adjective + as.........

Ahmad is as tall as Rohman

     Mery is as beautiful as Helin

Can also be used with the same as formula

     Ahmad is the same as Rohman

     Mery is the same as her father

II.      Comparative Degree

A.    For adjectives with one syllable, we add ending “R” or “ER”, form comparatives.

Formula : ............  adjective + R, ER + Than .........

Descriptive Text

 A. Pengertian descriptive text

Singkatnya, descriptive text adalah teks yang menjelaskan tentang suatu hal. Baik orang, benda, peristiwa, ataupun tempat. Descriptive text memberikan penjelasan secara rinci agar pembaca paham objek informasi yang mereka cari.

B. Tujuan descriptive text

Tujuan dari descriptive text hanya ada satu, yaitu untuk menggambarkan, mewakili atau mengungkapkan seseorang atau suatu objek, baik abstrak maupun konkret. Inilah mengapa descriptive text ditulis dengan bahasa yang lugas dan singkat, agar isi teks mudah dipahami.

C. Struktur descriptive text

Descriptive text memiliki dua struktur, yaitu identification (pendahuluan) dan description (penjabaran). Berikut penjelasannya:

1. Identification (pendahuluan)

Identification berisi perkenalan atau penjelasan tokoh utama yang akan dideskripsikan. Bagian ini terletak pada paragraf pertama. Tokoh dapat berupa orang, objek, tempat, ataupun peristiwa.

2. Description (penjabaran)

Bagian description berisi penjelasan secara jelas dan khusus tentang ciri- ciri, sifat, kebiasaan atau hal-hal lain yang berkaitan dengan objek yang akan dideskripsikan.

D. Ciri-Ciri Descriptive Text

Descriptive text memiliki 4 ciri-ciri khusus. Berikut penjelasannya:

1. Menggunakan simple present tense

Descriptive menggunakan simple present tense untuk menjelaskan suatu fakta atau kebenaran yang terdapat dalam suatu hal atau orang.

2. Menggunakan banyak adjective

Adjective dikenal dengan kata sifat, seperti baik-buruk, besar-kecil. Adjective digunakan karena descriptive text akan menjelaskan sifat - sifat dari suatu benda, manusia, atau binatang.

3. Terdapat Relating Verb

Relating verb adalah jenis kata kerja yang berusaha sebagai penghubung terhadap penjelasan kata benda yang menjadi subjek, seperti be, have, seem. Descriptive text banyak menggunakan relating verb sebagai penghubung antara subjek dengan penjelasannya.

4.Descriptive text hanya memiliki satu fokus, yaitu untuk menjelaskan satu objek

 
D.GENERIC STUCTURE

1.       Tujuan descriptive text adalah menggambarkan, mengungkapkan juga mendeskripsikan suatu ciri-ciri, baik itu pada benda, hewan, tempat dan lain-lain. Descriptive text juga dibuat tanpa melakukan riset secara detail sebelumnya, jadi penulis hanya perlu menuliskan cerita berdasarkan pada apa yang ia lihat dan ia dengarkan.

2.       Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan, berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu topik. Misalnya pada: My supporter is Duke of Edinburgh. he’s my acquaintance. Teman baik saya adalah Duke of Edinburgh. Hawkeye State adalah teman kelas saya.

3.       Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau bagaimana suatu benda dideskripsikan. Misalnya sifat-sifat, tampilan fisik, dan hal lain yang kemudian dituliskan dengan spesifik

4.       Ciri-Ciri Descriptive Text sendiri di antaranya:

1. Pada Verb yang digunakan adalah attribute verb, seperti be (am, is, are);
2. Tense yang digunakan adalah easy tense; dan
3. Hanya berfokus pada satu objek saja.

E. Contoh Descriptive Text

My ACTIVITY

I wake up at 5 o’clock in the morning. I never forget to tidy up my bed and clean it up. Then I take a bath and pray. After that I help my mother to prepare the breakfast. And then, I have breakfast with my family in the dining room. We usually have warm tea, milk and fried rice. Then,

I go to school with my friends. I study at school till 1 p.m. I go home, put off my uniform and have lunch with my mother. After that I pray, watch TV and take a nap. I always take a bath at 5 p.m. in the afternoon. Then I watch TV while waiting the time for praying. After I pray, I and my family have dinner together. And then, I read a book and prepare the lesson for the next school day. I go to bed at 9 p.m. That’s all my activity starting from waking up till going to be. Thank you.

 

BOROBUDUR

Borobudur is a Hindu-Buddhist temple. It lies Magelang. The tample is constructed on a hill fourty six meters hight and consists of eight steplike stone terraces, one on the top the other. The first five terraces are square and surrounded by wall  adorned with Buddhist sculpture in has-relief; the upper three are circular, each with a circle of bell-shaped stupes. The entire edifice is crowned by a large stupa at the center of the top cicrle.

 

Hobby

Everybody  has a hobby. A hobby is something we do for pleasure in our spare time. My hobby is collecting stamps. I like to collect many kinds of stamps from all over the world. Sometimes I must buy a new stamp. I put my collections in a stamp album.

I have a brother. His name is Andre. He likes to go camping. He always goes camping on holiday. My sister, Putri, likes cooking. She likes baking cakes but she hates preparing our meals.

My mother and father like gardening. They like to spend their time in a garden. There are many flowers in their garden. There are roses, jasmines, orchids, and hisbicuses. They also plant vegetables. There are carrot, tomatoes, and lettuce
